ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- The Los Angeles Angels have made a pitching change for their series finale against the Houston Astros, recalling left-hander Andrew Heaney from Triple-A Salt Lake to make his sixth major league start instead of struggling Matt Shoemaker.
Heaney is making his Angels debut Wednesday. He was 0-3 with a 6.93 ERA in five starts last season with the Miami Marlins.
Shoemaker is being given a couple of extra days to work on fastball command. He is penciled in to start Friday night against Seattle.
Los Angeles acquired the 24-year-old Heaney, drafted ninth overall in 2012, from the Dodgers in December for second baseman Howie Kendrick.
