ANAHEIM -- The Angels announced Tuesday that they have promoted Dave Hansen to be their new hitting coach, a move that had been anticipated for quite some time.
Hansen spent the last two years as an assistant under hitting coach Don Baylor, who has been asked to return in an advisory role but has yet to make a decision. Paul Sorrento, who spent last season with the team as something of a third hitting coach, will be Hansen's assistant.
Hansen's promotion comes a day after Charles Nagy was named pitching coach, replacing Mike Butcher, who's now with the D-backs.
