TEMPE, Ariz. – Angels pitcher Cam Bedrosian had a batter in the box, finally, but he didn’t like his target. So he motioned to the catcher to raise his glove a couple inches, until it was floating above Sherman Johnson’s belt.
Bedrosian buzzed a fastball high and tight. Johnson jerked out of the way, smiling, looking relieved that his reflexes didn’t betray him in the moment of truth.
“You can pretend all day, have guys stand in (the batter’s box) and do nothing,” Bedrosian said. “When you see someone step in, you know it’s me versus him.
