Angels' overworked bullpen already feeling the strain

ANAHEIM – Right-hander Mike Morin sat in front of his locker with an ice bag on his elbow and another strapped to his shoulder after 11/3 innings of work Friday in the Angels’ 7-3 loss to Texas.

His postgame treatment no doubt was routine for the reliever, but it provided a small snapshot of the kind of season it’s been so far for the Angels bullpen.

Four games into the season, the relievers already are overworked, throwing more pitches than Manager Mike Scioscia would like as because the starters have been less than effective.

“There’s no doubt that you only have so many pitches with your pitching staff every game, every week, every year,” Scioscia said.
