OAKLAND – David Freese played third on Friday night, and Kyle Kubitza was on the bench. On Saturday, it was the opposite.
Although the Angels don’t yet have the problem of having too many productive hitters to get them all playing time, the situation at third base nonetheless will bear watching.
Kubitza is a left-handed hitter, something the Angels badly need in their lineup, but Freese has been one of their best run producers. Kubitza is working out in left field, perhaps to allow the Angels that option of keeping him in the lineup.
The Angels also can use Freese as the designated hitter.
