ANAHEIM -- Angels prospect Sean Newcomb has been selected to participate in the Futures Game during next month's All-Star Game festivities.
A 22-year-old left-hander, Newcomb will be a member of the U.S. Team in the July 12 game at Cincinnati's Great America Ballpark. The Futures Game is a showcase of baseball's best prospects.
Newcomb, the Angels' first-round pick in 2014, has split his season between Class-A Burlington, Iowa, and Advanced Class-A Inland Empire, posting a 4-0 record with a 2.61 ERA. He has struck out 95 batters in 72-1/3 innings.
