HOUSTON – Joe Smith hasn’t given up on pitching again this season.
Smith, who sprained his left ankle stumbling on a flight of stairs on Saturday, was walking without crutches on Tuesday, albeit with a limp.
“Every day just keeps getting better,” Smith said. “As long I get the swelling out and the range of motion back, as far as pitching they said it’s just a pain tolerance thing. As much as you can handle, you can go. Structurally you can go.”
The Angels still haven’t given a prognosis for Smith, but sprained ankles normally take a minimum of two weeks to heal.
