SEATTLE – Cliff Pennington seems to have come off the disabled list after missing two months and stepped into an everyday job.
Pennington was in the starting lineup at second base for the third day in a row on Friday, with Johnny Giavotella on the bench.
Manager Mike Scioscia, as usual, wouldn’t go along with labeling anyone at second as a “starter,” instead insisting “we’ll use all those guys and try to match up wherever we can.” Gregorio Petit also figures into the mix.
Scioscia said one of the factors that has helped push him toward Pennington lately is that he’s a switch-hitter, so he gives the Angels a left-handed bat against right-handed pitchers.
