The Los Angeles Angels announced today that LHP Andrew Heaney will be placed on the 15 day disabled list with a left flexor muscle strain. Last night, Heaney pitched against the Chicago Cubs allowing four runs on seven hits over six innings. He struck out seven and walked zero batters. According to the Angels via Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, Heaney “complained of tightness in his left forearm” after his Tuesday start against the Cubs.
As of right now, there is no reported threat of Tommy John surgery for Heaney, this is an issue with a muscle ligament.
