TEMPE, Ariz. — The MRI on Jered Weaver’s neck showed nerve tightness, the Angels’ right-hander said Friday.
Weaver said he planned to meet with team doctors later in the day to go over the results.
He did not expect to be shut down and is able to play catch.
“It’s not painful,” Weaver said, “it’s just restricted.”
The 33-year-old will also see a specialist Friday afternoon.
In his second spring-trainings start on Wednesday against the Dodgers, he struggled to top 80 mph on his fastball, reigniting concerns about his velocity, as he gave up six hits, five runs and three home runs in 2 2/3 innings.
