Angels interim GM Bill Stoneman open to deals: 'If it helps, do it.'

SEATTLE – Bill Stoneman is ready to make a deal.

Or not.

Stoneman, who took over as Angels interim general manager when Jerry Dipoto resigned last week, did not have a history of making midseason acquisitions during his previous eight years in the job.

Asked Friday whether that history still applies, Stoneman said he’s not philosophically opposed to making deals, as long as they are good ones.

“It doesn’t matter if it’s July or January, if it helps you, you do it,” said Stoneman, who is in Seattle with the team this weekend.
