ANAHEIM – There’s something special about Aug. 7 for Mike Trout, and not just because it’s his birthday. Or maybe it is.
For the third time in four seasons, the Angels outfielder sent a ball flying over the fences on his birthday, this one a towering solo shot in the first inning that landed just left of the rock pile in center field.
It was his league-leading 33rd home run this season and his first in August. He belted 12 in July.
"It seems like he’s had a lot of birthdays," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said.
