MINNEAPOLIS -- After spending the first few years of his career adjusting the theoretical settings on his delivery, Hector Santiago believes he’s finally at the optimum point.
As he made the conversion from reliever to starter, he was continually dialing down his velocity to improve control.
Not any more.
Santiago said he has learned his delivery well enough that he can maintain his control, even while increasing the velocity.
“As a reliever, you come in and just let it eat,” Santiago said. “As a starter you have to find that medium. But now I’m thinking forget that medium.
