MINNEAPOLIS – This is not the way the Angels wanted to head into their latest Biggest Series Of The Year.
The Angels lost, 8-1, to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon, an ugly game to pack with them on the flight to Houston, where they will open a three-game series against the Astros on Monday.
The Angels trail the Astros by 21/2 games for the second wild-card spot, with 13 to play.
“Are they make or break games?” David Murphy said. “Mathematically, no. But possibly yes.”
If the Angels can sweep the Astros, they will have the lead in race for the last postseason spot.
