ANAHEIM – Jerry Dipoto is like one of those early-bird shoppers standing outside the store, waiting for the doors to open.
Although the Angels are desperate for a hitter to spark their sagging offense, making trades at this time of year is problematic because it’s too early for teams to give up and sell off their pieces.
While one of the few teams already out of the race has a player who would be a perfect fit for the Angels – more on him later – Dipoto is mostly in a holding pattern.
