C.J. Cron will have surgery on his left hand, which was injured when he was hit by a pitch on Friday.
Cron will be out six to eight weeks, the latest bad news for an Angels team that has been decimated by injuries this season.
Cron had X-rays in Baltimore on Friday, but Monday he saw a hand specialist in Southern California who determined that he needed surgery.
Cron had been heating up over the past month, hitting .356 with six homers and 24 RBI over his past 20 games.
Without Cron in the middle of the lineup, the Angels will look to Daniel Nava, Jefry Marte, Ji-man Choi and Johnny Giavotella to hit behind the core of Mike Trout and Albert Pujols.
