TORONTO – Jett Bandy sat in a chair in the outfield, while his University of Arizona teammates ran.
And ran. And ran. And ran.
Ran till some of them threw up.
And Bandy sat there, with cold bottles of water under the warm Arizona sun. As he watched his friends suffer – all because he had skipped a sociology class – he learned a lesson that sticks with him to this day.
“I’ve got to start getting stuff into gear,” Bandy recalled. “I’ve got to do the right things. ... It was letting me know that my actions don’t only affect me, but also my teammates.
