The Angels announced on Monday that Bruce Hines was coming back to the organization. He joins manager Joe Maddon’s staff as the first base and outfield coach, a role he last served in Anaheim in 1991.
There were a variety of roles for Hines in between, including minor league manager, minor league coach, minor league instructor, and scout for the Angels from 1984-90 and 1994-2008.
This will be Hines’ 23rd season with the Angels. He also coached third base for the Mariners in 2009, and coached in the minors with the Dodgers (field coordinator), Rangers (baserunning coordinator), and A’s, in addition to MLB’s academy in Mexico.
