The Angels are in need of catching depth, and have reportedly brought back an old friend for some backstop insurance. Juan Graterol has signed a minor league deal with the Angels, per both Efrain Zavarce at IVC Networks in Venezuela and Fabian Ardaya at The Athletic.
Graterol played in 58 games over parts of three seasons (2016-18) with the Angels, hitting .222/.225/.283, starting 30 games behind the plate for the team. Graterol, who turns 32 on Valentine’s Day, spent his 2020 season at the Twins’ alternate training site, though he didn’t play in the majors.
