The Braves and Angels completed a trade Monday, with Atlanta sending right-hander David Hernandez to Los Angeles for a player to be named later or cash.
Hernandez had spent the entirety of 2017 with Atlanta's Triple-A Gwinnett affiliate, pitching to a 1.12 ERA over seven appearances. He had a May 1 opt-out clause in his contract if he did not earn a promotion to the Majors.
Hernandez's most recent big league experience came last season, when he made 70 appearances for the Phillies. The 31-year-old owns a career 4.10 ERA over seven Major League seasons, mostly as a reliever for the Orioles, D-backs and Phillies.
