The Angels made a move Thursday morning, acquiring infielder Jack Mayfield for cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves. In order to make room on the 40-man roster, infielder Robel Garcia was designated for assignment.
Mayfield, 30, spent the last two seasons with the Astros, but was claimed off waivers in November by the Braves. During his time in Houston, he appeared in 47 games hit only .170 with an OPS of .480. He had 30 strikeouts with only three walks and had only eight extra base hits.
He does however bring versatility in the infield, something that can benefit the Angels.
