The Angels acquired catcher Drew Butera from the Texas Rangers in exchange for cash considerations. In a corresponding move, the Angels designated catcher Jack Kruger for assignment.
Kruger was activated yesterday and made his major-league debut with the Angels last night.
This will be Butera’s second go-around with the Angels. He appeared in only 10 games for them in 2015 before being traded to Kansas City. The 37-year-old spent 2020 with the Rockies, appearing in 28 games for them. He hit .154 and drove in four runs.
Butera made his presence known immediately, as he doubled in his first at bat with the club.
