With Friday being the day when the Halos and their arbitration-eligible players exchange figures, fans know to expect lots of arbitration settlement news to come out between now and then. Well, the figure-exchanging work is apparently well underway in Billy Eppler’s front office, as today we have word of our first arbitration settlement of the week, and the first man up is pitcher Andrew Heaney.
Heaney and the Angels settled on an $800,000 deal, per Jon Heyman, which will also include some award bonuses for the 26-year-old lefty pitcher. Heaney will avoid arbitration, and no we just sit back and hope that he can also avoid any serious injuries; Heaney’s injury-prone career, thus far, has seen him make just six starts in the past two seasons, but hey.
