Albert Pujols silences fans, critics with one swing of bat in Angels' win

SEATTLE – Wherever he was on Saturday night, Brad Lidge might have felt a little shudder and not known why.

Albert Pujols crushed a three-run homer in the ninth inning, to lift the Angels to a dramatic 9-7 victory over the Seattle Mariners.

“That’s a great feeling,” Pujols said. “If feels good. I’ve been in that situation before, and I’ve done it before.”

The way the ball was gone the moment it left Pujols’ bat, and the way it instantly silenced a ballpark full of raucous fans, were similar to one of the most iconic homers of his career.
