If you were betting on Los Angeles Angels slugger Josh Hamilton returning to the Texas Rangers when his contract expires in 2017, you'll want to kiss that money goodbye.
Rangers general manager Jon Daniels took questions from fans on Saturday, and was asked about what the chances were for a Josh Hamilton reunion tour in Arlington.
"Small," Daniels said matter-of-factly.
There have been rumblings of trade winds surrounding Hamilton in Anaheim, however the three years and over $90 million that he has left on his contract may make it impossible to deal him without eating a significant portion of the money due.
The Rangers won't be the team dealing for Hamilton it looks like, despite reports that surfaced in December that Texas was exploring the possibility of bringing him back. Add in the fact that Hamilton doesn't exactly receive a warm ovation in Arlington since his departure, and all signs point to this door being firmly slammed shut.
