The Los Angeles Angels shipped catcher Drew Butera to the Kansas City Royals on Thursday night, receiving minor league infielder Ryan Jackson in return.
Butera, 31, posted just a .190 batting average in 10 games with the Angels this season. That's in line with his troubling .188 average with the Los Angeles Dodgers last year.
Jackson, traded to Kansas City in November from the Dodgers, posted a .083 average in a short stint with the St. Louis Cardinals a couple years ago.
Per an AP report, "to make room for Butera on the 40-man roster, Kansas City transferred left-hander Tim Collins to the 60-day disabled list. He is recovering from Tommy John surgery in March."
Jackson will likely require some seasoning in the Angels' farm system before the team can assess just what they have in him from a big-league prospect standpoint.
