In Angels news today, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are prepping for a monumental milestone, as slugger Albert Pujols now stands just two homers away from joining the celebrated 500-home run club.
However, per Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com, Pujols, even after hitting #498 against the Tigers on Saturday, prefers to wait for the moment to happen rather than to focus on it now: "Through a team spokesman, Pujols reiterated on Saturday morning that he doesn't want to talk about his chase of 500 homers because he doesn't want it to be a distraction to the team."
"Let's wait until I hit it," Pujols said in a recent interview with MLB.com. "I'm pretty sure I'm going to be pretty emotional about it -- but it depends how it happens, too."
Unless Albert Pujols wavers from his torrid start (he leads the team with six home runs), Pujols may hit magic number 500 away from Anaheim.
The Angels have one more left in Detroit, followed by three at the Nationals and three at the Yankees.
