Wigan have signed forward Joe Hungbo on a three-and-a-half year deal from German side FC Nurnberg.
The 24-year-old had been on loan at fellow League One side Rotherham since the summer, failing to score in 18 appearances.
But he has cut that move short to make the permanent switch to Shaun Maloney's side for an undisclosed fee, prior to the match with Birmingham on Saturday.
Maloney said: "Joe can play on either side of our front line which is a big asset for us. He excels in one-on-one situations and will bring speed and creativity to our attacking play.
