Brian Harman won his first-ever major at the Open Championship Sunday but his wife, Kelly Van Slyke, wasn't at Royal Liverpool to watch him achieve the feat.
The 36-year-old fended off the likes of Jon Rahm, Tom Kim and Jason Day to win the major championship at Hoylake by six shots.
But as her husband lifted the Claret Jug, Van Slyke was 3,000 miles away, according to broadcaster Dan Hicks.
Van Slyke was in Syracuse, New York, spending time with family and Hicks revealed that he had texted her to ask if she was watching, to which she responded that she had in fact just returned from a four-mile walk.
