Consequently, the duo have become the first Reds pair to retain the prestigious award since Dalglish and Rush, with the legendary forwards having won it in 1982-83 and 1983-84 respectively.

Along with Van Dijk, Salah, Rush and Dalglish, Terry McDermott (1979-80), John Barnes (1987-88), Steven Gerrard (2005-06) and Luis Suarez (2013-14) have also been named PFA POTY while representing Liverpool.
