Trent Alexander-Arnold has hailed Lionel Messi as the best player that 'has ever played the game' after hailing the Argentine's legendary impact on football.
The Liverpool star is currently away on an extended summer break following England's Euro 2024 final heartbreak and will return at a later date for pre-season training.
However, he has still been offering his verdict on one of football's greatest debates when Alexander-Arnold was asked about the best player he has come up against in an interview with The Mirror.
The 25-year-old has come up against some modern day greats during his trophy-laden career at Anfield including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, but reserved special praise for Messi.
