'This is a MESS': Gary Neville fumes as Darwin Nunez punishes Manchester United's 'appalling' defending in build-up to Liverpool's second goal as Erik ten Hag's side come undone at Anfield

Gary Neville has labelled Manchester United's defending as a 'mess' after Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez punished Erik ten Hag's defenders by scoring immediately after the second-half got underway.

Nunez finished off a pouncing Liverpool attack by steering Harvey Elliott's cross past United shot-stopper David de Gea.

United had failed to learn their mistakes from a poor first-half that saw Cody Gakpo open the scoring as Liverpool's Uruguayan striker punished the visitors.

Neville, commentating on Sky Sports, fumed as his former side found themselves undone once again.

'Timing of Liverpool’s goals, absolutely fantastic for them, just been talking about United improve in the second half, this is a mess, all of them should do better,' said Neville.
