The first £100m footballer – who will it be? Here are eight contenders to break the transfer fee world record

It was 38 years ago – 9 February, 1979 – when Trevor Francis became Britain’s first £1m footballer, four years after Italian Giuseppe Savoldi became the first player in the world to cost as much. So who will become the first £100m player? In recent years Cristiano Ronaldo (£80m), Gareth Bale (£86m) and Paul Pogba (£89m) have come close and here, talkSPORT looks at the candidates, beginning with Hazard. He cost Chelsea £32m in 2012 and if the player wants to leave then a club will have to pay big for him.
