Still no case for Liverpool's defence with Jurgen Klopp's side having now conceded as many goals in seven games as Jose Mourinho's Chelsea let in during the entire 2004-2005 season

It is a sobering thought for Jurgen Klopp that Liverpool have conceded as many goals after just seven games of their title defence as Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea let in when sprinting to the Premier League crown in 2004-05.

And many of the 15 they have conceded have been down to simple mistakes or errors of judgment. Against West Ham it was the same old story.

No 2 keeper Adrian has been at fault this season, so has the imperious Virgil Van Dijk but this time it was Joe Gomez.
