Steven Gerrard WILL be ready to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool if the Premier League-winning boss decides to walk away, insists former team-mate John-Arne Riise

Steven Gerrard is 'ready' to succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager according to club legend John Arne Riise.

Riise has dismissed claims that Gerrard is 'too young' and 'too inexperienced' for the role by saying the Rangers boss would 'be ready for anything that comes to him' because of his impressive work ethic.

The former left-back did, however, say that Klopp's future at the club remains in his own hands despite Liverpool's monumental downfall this season and that Gerrard would not be drafted in until the German 'decides to stop managing'.
