Steven Gerrard is relishing the opportunity to begin the next phase of his career after being confirmed Liverpool's new Under 18 manager.
It was decided after conversations with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Alex Inglethorpe, the academy director, that Gerrard needed a specific role to develop as a coach and it was determined the Under 18s would give him the best platform to develop.
Gerrard has been working in a wide-ranging position at the academy since the start of February, having announced his retirement from football last November, and has naturally gravitated to working with the Under 18s.
