Solanke: Gomez and Trent prove Klopp is great at development

Fierce competition for places in Klopp’s squad means the 21-year-old is yet to play for the Reds’ first team so far this season.

He has, though, been a regular for England U21s, with his brace in last week’s 2-1 win over Italy taking his 2018-19 tally for the Young Lions to three goals in four games.

Naturally, Solanke - who has also netted in both of his Premier League 2 outings for Liverpool U23s this term - wants to add to the 27 senior appearances he made for his club last season.

However, he looks no further than two of his teammates for proof that Klopp’s methods benefit youngsters.
