Arne Slot's men got on level terms just four minutes later thanks to Luis Diaz and goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo soon followed.
Salah was desperate to get in on the action and finally did shortly after the hour mark as he fired home a powerful effort into the bottom corner.
