Sevilla coach Eduardo Berizzo has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, the Spanish club confirmed on Wednesday morning.

Confirmation the 48-year-old Argentine requires treatment for a tumour came following reports he told his players the news during his half-time team talk as they trailed Liverpool 3-0 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

A statement released by the club read: 'The medical services of Sevilla FC report that the coach of the first team, Eduardo Berizzo, has been diagnosed with an adenocarcinoma of the prostate.
