Sadio Mane was 'unhappy with Jurgen Klopp' after he backed Liverpool team-mate Virgil van Dijk for the Ballon d'Or amid Real Madrid interest in Senegal star

Jurgen Klopp's backing of Virgil van Dijk for last year's Ballon d'Or 'left a bitter taste' for Sadio Mane, according to reports in France.

The Senegal star excelled in 2018-19 with 26 goals to propel Liverpool towards a sixth Champions League success and almost to the Premier League title too.

But it was van Dijk who gathered personal acclaim, clinching the PFA Player of the Year and second place behind Lionel Messi for the Ballon d'Or prize.
