Former Liverpool and Scotland midfielder Gary McAllister has been confirmed as Steven Gerrard’s assistant manager at Rangers.
The Scottish Premiership club officially revealed their new manager’s backroom staff on Thursday, with ex-Scotland captain McAllister, 53, named as his number two as part of a heavy Anfield influence on the dugout.
Gerrard and McAllister spent two hugely successful years together at Anfield, winning the FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup and the Community Shield in the famous 2000/01 season under Gerard Houllier.
The pair struck up a close friendship during the Scot’s spell on Merseyside and had a big impact on the young midfielder’s career.
