Photos: Reds back Fans Supporting Foodbanks on derby day

Liverpool's pre-match warm-up at Goodison Park on Saturday saw the players proudly wear tops featuring a Fans Supporting Foodbanks patch.

The logo was added to the Reds’ jerseys ahead of the Merseyside derby to mark the fifth anniversary of the volunteer group that has fed thousands of families across the region since it was launched in 2015.

Formed by Spirit of Shankly’s Ian Byrne MP and Dave Kelly from Everton’s Blue Union, Fans Supporting Foodbanks was created in response to the growing demand on foodbanks in Liverpool.

Aided by a huge number of volunteers, and immediately identifiable for its purple van, Fans Supporting Foodbanks conducted a matchday collection at every game until the COVID-19 pandemic began earlier this year.
