Pep Guardiola says his Man City team have 'closed a chapter' after winning the Club World Cup for the first time, as he urges his players to start writing new stories by chasing more trophies this season

Pep Guardiola declared that Manchester City have ‘closed a chapter’ after becoming champions of the world on Friday night – but warned that they want to write more stories.

City beat Fluminense 4-0 in Jeddah to make history by becoming the first English club to lift five of the biggest trophies in one year.

And Guardiola wants the Treble winners to go on and build again in an unrelented pursuit of silverware.

‘It’s a beautiful, beautiful day,’ Guardiola said. ‘I never thought when we arrived in Manchester that we could do this and finish with the World Cup.
