On the day: Ronnie Moran makes LFC debut

It was on November 22, 1952, that the man for whom the term 'legend' seems insufficent first pulled on the Liverbird - during a 3-2 defeat at Derby County.

Nobody in attendance that day, not least Moran himself, could have predicted that they were witnessing the early stages of an unrivalled 49-year stint in service to the LFC cause.

But the 18-year-old full-back making his bow at Pride Park was in fact beginning a journey that ended almost half a century later with him having taken on the roles of player, captain, coach, reserve team boss, physio and caretaker manager at Anfield.
