Taiwo Awoniyi scored a famous winner against former club Liverpool as Nottingham Forest clambered off the foot of the table with their first victory since August 14.
Awoniyi finished off Steve Cook’s cross at the second attempt after 55 minutes to bring the roof down at a raucous City Ground.
It was a particularly sweet moment for the 25-year-old Nigerian who was a Liverpool player for six years until 2021 but never made a first-team appearance because of work permit issues.
For Liverpool, defeat came amidst a serious injury crisis that left Jurgen Klopp without Thiago Alcantara, Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Naby Keita, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate.
