Graham Carey’s extra-time penalty gave Plymouth Argyle a 1-0 victory over Newport County in the FA Cup second-round replay, booking a meeting with Liverpool.
The original tie at the start of the December produced a goalless draw at Home Park and they could not be separated in 90 minutes at Rodney Parade either.
Argyle shot-stopper Luke McCormick made a vital save in the second half to help keep his side in the game. Then the visitors – currently top of League Two – were awarded a penalty in extra-time after Jennison Myrie-Williams handballed in the box.
