New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft decided against buying Liverpool because the money in the league would make it 'hard to compete'

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft says he turned down the chance to buy Liverpool because he thought it would be too hard to compete among the Premier League mega-money.

Billionaire businessman Kraft held talks with the club in 2005, but pulled out of a deal, paving the way for Tom Hicks and George Gillett to take over.

Hicks and Gillett's reign was turbulent and unsuccessful, and they eventually sold the club to another American, current owner John W Henry.
