The midfielder sustained a muscle strain ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final against Chelsea in midweek and is not in contention to feature at St Mary’s.
“[He is] not available,” said Jürgen Klopp at his pre-match press conference.
“It’s a muscle thing and we don’t know exactly how long it will take. But he’s not available.”
