Merseyside police investigate criminal damage in the away end at Anfield after Liverpool's 2-0 victory against rivals Everton on Sunday

Merseyside police are investigating reports of criminal damage caused in the away end at Anfield on Sunday, after Liverpool defeated rivals Everton 2-0.

Pictures surfaced on Twitter of smashed television screens as well as vandalism on the concourse and in the toilets, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage.

According to The Mirror, a police spokeswoman said: 'We are investigating an incident of criminal damage which took place inside Anfield Stadium on Sunday 24 April.

'The toilets and television screens in the concourse area of the stadium were found to have been vandalised after the derby game between Liverpool and Everton.
