Erik ten Hag's side persevered however, and substitute Antony fired home in the closing stages to draw the hosts level.
With the back-and-forth clash heading towards extra-time, Christian Eriksen found Rashford with an inch-perfect through ball that split the Liverpool back line deep into stoppage time.
